Almost five years ago, I rescued Freya from a family who had taken her in after saving her from a puppy mill. They didn't know much about her past, only that she hadn't been socialized and that she interprets 'play' as fighting-so she struggles with most dogs. Despite that rough start, Freya has grown into a sweet and loving girl. She does well with other dogs in neutral spaces like parks, but she prefers her home to herself and doesn't like unfamiliar dogs getting too close there. What she does love? Children, cats, and attention. Freya has the biggest soft spot for kids and has always been gentle and affectionate with them. She can be cautious around new adults and may growl at first, but once you sit down and give her a moment, she'll come right over to greet you. She just needs patience and understanding-after that, she's all love. This decision breaks my heart, but I want what's best for Freya. I work long hours and can't be home with her as much as she deserves. On top of that, I recently discovered I'm allergic to her dander, and she has a skin condition that requires regular medicated baths. Unfortunately, bathing is very stressful for her, as the treatment needs to sit on her skin for at least 10 minutes, making it an unpleasant experience for both of us. Freya would truly thrive with someone older looking for a loyal companion, or with a patient family who can give her the time, care, and attention I wish I could provide. She has so much love to give and deserves a home that can meet her needs fully.
