Thank you, Sabra for caring! 20 lbs maybe just over 1 yr. 'I found Rudy at a dumpster in VA on Nov . 30th w/another beagle, both obviously hunting dogs with no collars or id. They were cold, hungry, looked lost. I posted them on Facebook asking for any hunters in the community to please come get them. I also called others to ask if recognized the dogs or had any idea whose dogs. . He got them. The next day Rudy was still there, alone. I contacted the same neighbor- how was Rudy still there? He said he thought the dogs lived with a hunter down the road but he needed to not get involved in it (I don't know what 'it' means). From asking around others mentioned if a dog isn't hunting well, some hunters will turn the dog loose instead of caring for the dog humanely. Was this why Rudy was 'lost.' Day #3, a snowstorm was forecasted. I called & turned Rudy over to the shelter. Meanwhile, I texted Marli to ask her if we can get Rudy into the rescue if not claimed before his stray hold was over, 12/8. Thankfully, Marli agreed to take him into the rescue. I couldn't leave Rudy at the dumpster site after being there 3 days without food, water or shelter or anyone coming to retrieve him. The very cold, snowy conditions were upon us that evening- I knew he needed better care. His owner failed him, but I could not. He's sweet, shy, likes other dogs, likes sniffing for game, enjoys kindness, food, warmth needs patient people to teach him how to become a great companion dog.'
