About DEMI

DEMI is an 11-month-old, tiny 5.7 lb Maltese surrender to us after being purchased for someone who became pregnant. She's a happy, cuddly girl who is ready for her new home! DEMI is a sweet little 'pocket pup' who wants to be carried, snuggled, and kept near you whether you're on the couch or curled up in bed. She's a little timid at first, but it doesn't take long before she's warm, affectionate, and attached. She loves being with her person and once she decides you're hers, she has you hooked. DEMI enjoys being around other dogs her size and will play a bit with the small ones, though she's leary of bigger dogs. She could be an only dog if she were the center of someone's world with not much time spent alone. She hasn't been around cats or kids that we know of, though her sweet nature suggests she'd do well with respectful, older children. DEMI will potty outside when you go with her, and she stays close by rather than wandering off. We have not worked with her on a leash and prefer a fenced yard, but think she would be okay without one in the right home. If it's raining, she needs a little extra encouragement going outside, and she isn't pad trained so she may have some accidents while she figures out your routine. She does great loose in the house when her foster leaves, but she absolutely hates being in a crate and will scream and cry if confined. She rides nicely in the car as long as she can be close to you. At night DEMI wants to snuggle with her person. She can hop onto the couch, but she hasn't mastered the steps to the big bed yet and usually wants a little help up and down. She's happiest snuggled close and will gladly curl up beside you. DEMI is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Important - check your spam folder for follow up questions and responses from our team. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola). We do not ship or transport our dogs.
