Fang is a big softy and was named after Hagrids dog from Harry Potter. He has a sad past life and we have tried desperately to be a good home for him. Unfortunately he was owned by a homeless family for his first year of life and was abused and neglected. He is a purebred Labradoodle who they stole from a breeder. His first family only spoke Spanish but we taught him English. He knows many commands and always responds to them except for STOP when he hits that hunt mode. He cannot handle being contained in a kennel or locked alone in a cage. He barely knows manners with leash walking and needs to be held by a strong person who is prepared for him to bolt. He is very strong and if he sees a squirrel he will tear after it. He is a very loving and dedicated dog. Amazing protector who is always on watch to protect his family. He has a strong ability to bond to many people including children. He is a lazy dog who wants to be asleep on the floor near his people. He also loves to cuddle up and watch movies. The biggest issues with him is his food drive. He will steal food, eat trash, or tear up anything that has a food smell. This means an owner needs to take extreme care when he is inside to keep food put away. He will not beg or be aggressive when the family is eating. He will happily lay on the floor, dozing while we eat. As soon as my son says 'I'm full' he will pop up and look at his plate to see whats left for him. He doesn't go for it, he patiently waits for it to be put in his bowl. The food issues always come when he is alone, sneaking extras. We have also found that he LOVES birds in the worst way. He will hunt and kill any bird he can. He has killed 4 of our chickens over the years and will eat song birds who land in our yard. Bonus he also hunts and kills mice and rats. I'm honestly not sure what kind of home Fang needs. He loves to run and run in a contained fence and to be lazy napping around the house. However, his anxiety and stress around going hungry make it difficult for families with food around or open access to a trash can. I am not interested in an adoption fee but don't want to pay for travel expenses for an out of the area adoption. He would probably make a good hunting dog but would need a training on retrieving without eating it himself.
