About Guinness

Guinness is a 6 month old Australian/English Shepherd mix. He weighs 30 pounds and is up to date on all vaccines (he loves to go to the vet!). He was born blind in his left eye but doesn't know it and seems to have no real barriers from it. He is a confident puppy with a very friendly and outgoing personality, up for any new experience. He's the best car rider, it puts him to sleep usually, and loves to go anywhere. He's great with other dogs and it would be ideal for him to have a home with another dog who likes to play. He has a curiosity about cats but hasn't been around them much. While he is friendly with kids, he hasn't quite mastered not jumping or mouthing which might not be suited for small children. His energy level is on the high side, typical for his breed. He's house and crate trained and reliably knows commands - sit, down, stay, and go to your bed. He's making steady progress on calm greetings/anti-jumping and impulse control. He still needs the most work on leash skills, recall and mouthiness. He's extremely praise/attention driven, with toys and treats being lower on the totem pole. He loves to play hide and seek for treats in the house and knows a series of commands to get in his crate and find it once the hiding is done. In addition to positive reinforcement training at home, he's had a smattering of structured training - day training, private training, and a short board and train. He loves to learn new things and learns them very fast! Guinness needs a yard and almost daily exercise (1-2 hours) to be his best regulated self. An ideal forever home would be an active one that regularly goes on hikes or outdoor adventures. An adopter with breed and/or training experience would be a plus. He'll be a great pup for the right home that can meet his needs for physical and mental stimulation.
