This post is a true Hail Mary. I am praying with everything in me that Kanga's guardian angel sees this in time before it's too late. PLEASE help us keep Kanga out of the NYC shelter - where she will very likely be put down quickly. Ready For Rescue is desperately trying to help Kanga, a beautiful 2-year-old sweetheart with the gentlest soul. Her story is absolutely heartbreaking. Not long ago, we saw her listed on the NYC shelter's euthanasia list. The shelter environment completely crushed her. Out of fear and shutdown, she became reactive and stopped showing well - which only sealed her fate. On the very day she was scheduled to die, her family reclaimed her. Many of you saw the emotional reunion video - it felt like a miracle. We all believed she was finally safe. But just weeks late, her family made an appointment to surrender her again because they are moving. We know what will happen if she goes back. Kanga will shut down fast in the shelter. And she will not make it out alive. Kanga is tolerant of other dogs, but she will guard food if another dog gets too close. She does best with calm, older dogs and a peaceful environment where she can finally feel safe. She is not a 'problem dog.' She is a traumatized dog who keeps losing everything she knows - and she is running out of chances. She doesn't have much time. Saving her right now means saving her life.
