It is with a heavy heavy sad heart that I write that I need to rehome my beautiful beautiful 3 year old boy, Milo. He has a slight heart murmur which is why we didn't neuter him (anesthesia can be dangerous with heart murmurs). My husband is unemployed, has cancer and has been very sick - he starts radiation/chemo soon; we have two kids in high school, I'm working, and my elderly mother is moving into town into assisted living '| our lives have gotten complicated and Milo is a very loving, beautiful boy who needs a simpler life with structure and focus on him, someone who knows the breed well and is willing to give him training for his reactivity. He deserves more than what he's been getting lately here with us. As a first time owner, I learned what people mean by German Shepherds being fiercely protective. We have friends of our boys coming over all the time, and I find myself being concerned for their safety. Milo is suspect of everyone new, and unless introduced carefully and specifically (which we don't always have the time to do), will become protective or fearful, and bark or growl. Milo loves and absolutely LIVES to play frisbee and ball! He loves to go on walks but I haven't been able to walk him lately, as he's too strong for me, my husband has gotten too sick, and there are some dogs he is reactive to while on leash so the bigger he got, the less we walked him in public . We have a female dog who he loves, and he likes the next door neighbor dog (even though she's alpha to him). I am in the Nashville, TN area and am willing to drive far to get him to the right home. This is what the perfect home would look like: lots of room to run and play frisbee, not many people going in and out of the house, no kids or cats (although I don't actually have evidence of him not liking cats), someone who would play with him a few times a day and keep him active. He is crate trained, and has all his shots. He did get along with SOME dogs - we have a female Pyrenees mix- but is leash reactive so we haven't socialized him much. Please, if anyone is able to give my baby this, reply here and I'll message you. Knowing he has a good home with people who will love him well, is the only thing that will make this bearable for me.
