About Dug

Please help!!! This is one of the hardest posts we've Jonathan Alvarez ever had to write. We took in a Blue Heeler named Dug because we wanted to help someone we trusted. We were told he would be trained daily and taken back if he didn't fit safely with our family, our other rescue pets, or our daughter. She was to be our new nanny and dog trainer: on her 3rd day, she left our 5 year old ALONE. So many promises were broken, and Dug was left with us - completely untrained and with nowhere else to go. Dug is truly a sweet soul. He looks at you with these hopeful eyes like he wants to get it right. But he is a Blue Heeler through and through - smart, driven, instinctual - and he needs more training and consistency than we can give. He has nipped family members, including our little girl, and our hearts are shattered having to admit we cannot meet his needs safely. We love him. We wanted to help him. But love alone isn't enough for a working breed who needs guidance, structure, and someone experienced enough to teach him. We are reaching out for someone who understands Heelers - someone who has the time, patience, and experience to bring out the incredible dog he can be. Dug deserves that chance.
