About Luka - in urgent need

Luka is in danger he was rescued from a high-kill pound in North Carolina as a puppy only to end up in a cruel boarding facility for more than a year, where he was forgotten, neglected, and as we later learned, even abused. At only a little over a year old, Luka has had a hard life but his spirit has not been broken and he longs to trust people. We are looking for a rescue-oriented foster or adopter who is experienced with traumatized dogs to help bring Luka out of his shell and give him the love and kindness that he has always deserved but never received in his entire life. The good news is that Luka is not aggressive and has no bite history. Luka is rather extremely timid and avoids people and withdraws from new situations which frighten him. Luka is a gentle dog who has allowed children to pet him. Luka is the happiest when he is around other dogs. Luka trusts animals, even cats, but is fearful of people, although he does warm up to those who are consistently kind and patient with him. Perhaps a retired couple that has the time to spend with him at home could help build his confidence. Luka would need a fenced yard to run, play and explore, which he loves to do with other dogs. Luka no adoption fee, and his rescuers will transport him to any loving home in the USA for free. And we will also cover the cost of his neuter.
