Courtesy Posting: X URGENT AT LA CITY SHELTER WHICH IS FULL - LOS ANGELES ANIMAL SERVICES- SOUTH LOS ANGELES SHELTER- HEARTBREAKING, NEGLECTED but SWEET CHOW OR CHOW X GIRL ONLY 5 YRS OLD!- 'LEONA' ID #A22428470- gives kisses, and did well with other dogs. NEEDS LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE ADOPTER OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP TO SAVE HER LIFE, BEFORE SHE IS EUTHANIZED FOR SPACE! See sweet videos. Help! This LA City shelter is full, and this poor girl was found as a stray in horribly neglected condition, missing much of her fur, and brought to the shelter on 11/5. Leona has been estimated to be only 5 years old, though. and weighs 56 lbs, and was previously spayed. The shelter told us, 'She arrived with missing hair and the medical staff were only able to do a limited examination due to her fear/anxiety/stress. There are no additional updates to the medical record other than being treated for the skin condition and a URI. Once her URI is resolved, she may possibly be eligible for a playgroup outing.' On 11/25, she finally was let out of her kennel to the playyard and was noted as keeping to herself, but socially tolerant, took appropriate corrections, and had a gentle and dainty playstyle. Back in her kennel, she greeted staff with a tail wag and approaching the fence as can be seen in video they just provided. On 12/3, they provided us with 2 more videos in the play yard and she was enjoying pets, as well as giving kisses on the face. Leona also did well and mostly ignored all the active dogs around her, both large and small. The shelter also let us know that on 11/23 they gave her Baytril for a minor URI. Her skin has improved a bit since being treated. We are now looking for a loving home or foster and rescue for her to save her in time. The shelter is over capacity and just put 7 more dog's on deadlines due to space, so Leona needs out asap. The listing link has been copied into the comments section of this post. She can also be fostered locally if in the shelter's area. Please contact the shelter directly by calling or using the listing link, or by calling (888) 452-7381. If you can foster, but are further away or not in the shelter's jurisdiction, please also contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with her placement. Please note rescue groups typically need a foster to save any dog. We will then try to pair you with a willing rescue group in time. We will be posting her on facebook and any new updates and pictures and video as we receive such at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/10168143253488125 Note: to view contents of links you will need to copy and paste each one separately into your browser.
