Mia is 4-6 year old Mastiff, GSD, Chow, American Pit Bull Terrier (according to her DNA testing!). I adopted Mia from our local pound one year ago. We've been through significant training at a traditional GSD trainer and she knows sit, stay, shake, leave it, and can heel very well on a lead provided ideal conditions. She also loves her crate. She's an absolute lover and is very gentle with little humans. We walk two miles per day and she requires that as a minimum to burn off her crazy energy! Once that is burned off, she's a very laid back, sweet dog-with a very intense chase drive for bunnies and cats. When she was adopted, I was guaranteed she was both cat and dog friendly. Unfortunately, after a year in the home with an existing cat, we've made little-to-no progress on her chase instinct or intense curiosity toward other dogs. She's improved drastically on her lead and is less and less interested in other dogs from an aggression standpoint. Her pinch collar lead training is a requirement given her strength. She is eager to please and loves training/learning. I'm exploring adoption options for someone that is looking for a single, BIG dog. She's very much a 'bull in a china shop' with her long legs and big noggin. She's very gentle with children and has fairly good manners when corrected. She would truly thrive in a one-dog household. She is crated at night (without issue) and often goes to work with me and sleeps next to my desk. I've put in substantial time and resources (training, 5-foot fence, etc) to provide Mia the ideal environment. That being said, I'm growing more convinced that our home/community isn't the best fit for her given the cats and the danger she continues to pose to them; broken doors, injuries to myself, etc. In her adoption fee I've factored in her recent round of shots, a large crate, and her toys, bones, collar, and bowls. She's been very loved and I intend to deeply vet anyone interested in providing her a more ideal living environment. She is truly an incredible dog that has come a very long way since her days at our local animal care and control.
