Chico is an adorable little boy in need of a new home or rescue. He loves getting petted, but will need an experienced and patient home. His owners write, 'Chico is a loving, adorable but reactive, blind and deaf 2.5-year-old Papillon mix that we adopted before we realized he is so reactive. He is amazing with our small kids but so bad with visitors including adults and kids...' Per his owners, he has bitten three people (skin was not broken). Name: Chico Age: DOB May 2023 Breed: Papillon/Chihuahua (16 pounds) Sex: Male (neutered per owners) Location: Monroe County NY Vet Info: Chico is neutered, current with vaccines and heartworm negative per his owners. He's been diagnosed with microphthalmia and his owners believe he can see light/shadows. He is also deaf. His owners also write, 'Prozac 10mg daily helping with his anxiety and ability to sleep through the night.' Dog Info: Chico is an indoor dog with run of the house. He is housebroken and leash trained. He's a smart little boy and knows to stay behind his owner if she nudges him with her ankle during walks. He also waits to go into the house until you rub his chin. Introductions to other dogs would need to be done carefully. His owners tell us, 'He bit a neighbors very calm dog when we tried to introduce them. He has nipped at neighbors in the house and out of the house.' He currently lives with a cat and they play wrestle. Chico is not possessive of toys, treats or food. Chico's owners gave us more details about his personality. He loves getting petted! 'He broke skin on the dog but not any human. He more so jumps around and barks at, nips at people he doesn't recognize inside and outside the house. He eventually calms down and loves getting petted. He barks and runs around in circles when he goes outside on the leash since there are new smells. Eventually he'll walk next to us and if you keep a short leash and explain to people that they can't approach, walks are actually pleasant. His behavior is usually sweet and cute when he's with us at home but sometimes he'll smell or sense something and just jump up and bark. He's on Prozac now which helps that a lot and helps him sleep through the night.' His owners want us to know he's a special little boy! 'He would be a great, loving companion for someone. He's small enough to scoop up and move. He hasn't accidentally bitten us but is reactive'. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
