About Nala

This is my Nala girl. Most of the time, she's a wonderful and loving pooch. She has been showing possessive/resource guarding behaviors of me, her dog-mom. Baby girl was a rescue from a shelter and she's been with me for about 4 years. She is the smartest doggo I've ever known. I've taught her how to close doors, countless basic tricks, how to grab my phone for me, prayer hands, take off our socks, assist with laundry, put her toys in a basket, etc. of course, she's strong willed and knows when treats are involved. We have attempted rehabilitation with a behavioralist and the behavior has been described as 'pinch biting'/herding behavior. Unfortunately, we have not been able to recreate the situations of incident adequately to address the issue. She is wonderful with everyone else when I am not around and I believe the issue is myself. Guarding has become more frequent now that I'm pregnant. She's never been aggressive toward children nor anyone outside. she plays well with dogs that are smaller than her and/or are submissive. She deserves a better home than we can provide for her. Ideally, we would like to re-home to a single bachelor or a strong couple that understands difficult breeds. We will not rehome to anyone with children. She would likely do well with dog sports when trained to perform those tasks. Of note, Nala does have a history of bladder stones with UTIs. This is controlled with prescription medication. Since starting her current diet, we have not had any issues but she will have to continue with this specific food.
