Hi, I'm Ginger - a 12-year-old GSP rescued 10 weeks ago by Juno's Den, and I'm still waiting for my permanent home. I'm a good girl with a gentle soul. I do well with dogs my size when I'm given the space and time to warm up - slow, proper introductions help me feel safe. I used to be a hunter when I was younger, so small animals and cats are just a little too tempting for me. I love easy, peaceful walks and adore car rides. I make an excellent copilot and will happily join you anywhere the road takes us. My past wasn't kind. The people who were supposed to care for me and my sister Ruby failed us. Ruby was taken from me in a way no dog should ever have to experience, and I was left outside at times without food or shelter. Because of that, I still worry about my meals disappearing. I do best when I'm fed separately, where I know my food is safe and no one can take it from me. At home, I'm your quiet companion. I'll keep you company while you go about your day, and when you're busy, I'll curl up nearby and nap - just happy knowing you're there. I can stay by myself for a few hours. I may howl for a minute or two to tell you how much I'll miss you, but once I know you're coming back, I'll settle in and wait patiently for you. I love treats and affection (who doesn't?), though I have to be mindful of my weight because of arthritis. My meds and supplements help a lot, and when I'm feeling good, I do happy little tippy taps that might just steal your heart. My foster mom spoils me with heating pads and gentle leg massages, and oh'| they feel so good. More than anything, I just want to be part of a family again - to love you and be loved in return during my golden years. I promise, once you get to know me, you'll love me too. ե
