This is Toasty, I found him in the parking lot at work about 3.5 months ago. He was in a pretty fragile state, got him to the vet to check him out, he's heartworm positive, and his thyroid is a little low, but the vet suspects it's due to the heartworms. We started on the slow kill method due to his estimated age, and initially his kidney function and several other markers were all off. Since then he's gained so much weight and hair, he's so fluffy! The mange was treated, he's on bravecto for fleas and ticks, and monthly ivermectin based heartworm preventive, he's not updated on shots, but will be prior to rehoming, we were waiting to get him healthier. He's not fixed. He is an escape artist, can climb fences, open doors, break out of kennels. He doesn't like to be alone. He's so good with people and kids, he's learned to be good with cats but we are still cautious and great with my other dogs big and small. He does show some sings of abuse in his previous life, and he is territorial with food, he has to eat separate to prevent him attacking another animal. He is so goofy and lovey and mostly house broken now, but we are working on territorial marking. He was a stray for a long time so it's taking some patience. Would love to find him a home that is a good fit for him, he is a big lovey cuddly baby.
