Meet Mars. I am currently fostering Mars. He was taken from a bad situation where he was chained to a log chain living in his own waste. He went from that to living in a cage. However, all this disgusting mistreatment has not disrupted Mars's sweet nature or his spirit. Don't let his big appearance scare you. He's absolutely precious. He's loving, sweet and very obedient. Mars has been hit before you can tell. He tends to cringe a little if you move your hands. Mars does not need an aggressive man to make him mind. HE DOES NOT NEED TO BE HIT. He wants to obey, its his nature. I am a female and all he needs is a firm voice and an alpha owner and that's only because he's such a big dog. He's even doing very well with heel, but he will pull you. You have to have good strength to walk him. He does sit, come, lay down and just wants to be loved on. Mars does have separation anxiety from being left alone so much he gets attached very easily and once put in his crate if you leave the room he will cry but if you leave the house he will protest very loudly for quite a while. Its actually sad. The good news is, he will go into his crate and sleep all night and not make a sound as long ashe knows your there. I cannot say for certain that Mars is good with children because I have not exposed him to children because I don't have any around. Based on his temperament, I can't imagine that he wouldn't be excellent with them though. I'm unclear on his status on cats. He's very interested in them and based on my experience, I feel like if he was left alone with a cat he may hurt it. But like I said, I'm unsure of that because when the cats swat his nose with their claws, he runs away from them But I Have also seen him corner them. He might be perfectly fine with them, It may be a simple as he has not been around cats beforebut I can't say that with that with 100 % certainty That he wouldn't kill your favorite catMars loves to hang from his pogo stick rope. He will do it for hours. He almost becomes obsessed with it. I have rescued mastiffs in the past and I believe that it's their way of releasing their tension. I have not seen any signs of food aggression however he will growl over a toy or a bone at the other dogs. No snapping just a firm warning that this is my bone just like any dog will do. He will let me take the bones or toys from Him with no issue. Mars did great the shelter And was not reactive to barking and growling dogs, He paid them no mind. He has also been growled at by my dogs at home and does not react. I will be beyond particular about who gets this dog. I want more than anything to keep him, but I have a farm and Mars and a Farm are not going to work. I put in the post that he was Neutered just to keep away anyone who might be looking to breed him but he is not nuetered yet. He has not been DNA tested for For Health or breed, but he does appear to be purebred mastiff. I will require whoever adopts him to pay for his neutering. It will be roughly $250 or less, but not more. I am charging a rehoming fee because this dog has to go to the best possible home. If you're interested in Mars, please feel free to contact me at 423-300-3030 I am very wise to scams about sending money certified checks and all that so don't even try.
