About Mortimer the Caique

Mortimer is a fun and entertaining 12-year-old, 9-10' long, beautiful, active, talkative, and fun Caique parrot looking for a loving guardian. Caiques are known as the clowns of the parrot species. Mortimer whistles, clucks, and barks. He likes to feed his human's geckos and dogs �'�| carrying around treats in his mouth! While he lives with other species, he's been assertive with parakeets, and could not live with cats. Caiques in captivity live 25 to 30 years. Mort sleeps about 10-12 hours a day, and is out of the cage for at least four hours a day. In addition to pellets, Mortimer enjoys fresh and dry fruit and vegetables. Mortimer goes in a backpack so he can go on bike rides with his human. He also likes to take showers, work on art projects, and listen to music, and be read to! Mortimer comes complete with absolutely everything you need to care for him including a very large cage for an adoption donation of $500. He is currently living in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.
