Hazel is a beautiful loving dog that we rescued from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region over a year ago. She was found running around after escaping her owner's backyard. After applying to adopt her we were informed that she was going to be euthanized due to human reactivity issues. When animal control came out to catch her, she snapped at someone. We did not want that incident to take her life so we went and signed liability forms to still take her. She is three years old approximately, up to date on vaccines, and spayed. Over time we noticed some behaviors from her that have been manageable. She has leash reactivity towards strangers when outside. It's definitely a protective behavior. She will attempt to lunge at people if they try to approach. She also needs to be crated prior to someone entering your home. Once she realizes they are not a threat, she is the most loving dog. She thrives off attention from anyone she feels safe around. She has been around many children and as long as she is introduced properly, she is completely harmless. We never planned to ever have to rehome her, but due to conflict with my family's current housing we have had to make this tough choice. She is fabulous around all dogs and cats. She is a very playful girl who loves friends. She can be a bit of a chewer if not crated when you leave. She is perfectly crate trained and knows basic commands. We just have not been able to break her of the reactivity. I would also like to note that she does have degenerative joint disease in her knees. The fee will be waived for the right family.
