Meet DANTE! DANTE looks and moves like a worn and tattered dog, but he is actually quite young at around 2-3 years old, weighing in at 72 lbs. (although he should weigh more). He looks like a Dane/Hound Mix...but we really have no idea. DANTE was found in a homeless community where living is rough, scary and unpredictable. He was forced to walk around all day enduring heat, cold and all the elements. Now that he is safe in a foster home, it's like his life has just begun. He is one of the most grateful dogs we've ever met...leaning in for snuggles and affection in the most gentle and loving way. He treads lightly in new spaces and on new surfaces, but with a little encouragement...he works through it and has done so amazingly well. We visited with Dr. Santelli at Clinton Veterinary Hospital and he is on some meds for an infection and will be having a broken tooth removed...but other than that, remarkably, he is in good health! DANTE LOVES female dogs but seems leary of male dogs...not uncommon having lived among lots of other homeless dogs all trying to survive. He has proven to be a total velcro dog, too! House-trained, excellent in the crate and a rule-follower! This sweet, deserving boy deserves to fully decompress and settle once and for all in the stability of a home and with people who will treat him like gold. This will be a very rewarding adoption...you can change his whole world forever! Located in private foster in CT.
