Adoption Fee: $25
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult

Sakima Male Australian Shep 3 yrs | Approx 40 lbs Concord, NH Kids: No Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes. Meet Sakima! Prepare to fall hard for this red merle Aussie and be wow'ed by all his good qualities! Sakima is a cuddly, happy, sweet boy who has a calm demeanor among those he knows and loves. He is game for many activities and especially enjoys playing frisbee and fetching balls. He does very well on car rides and is a good boy during baths. Food rewards are a big yes! On cue, he knows to sit, lay down, stay, come, go inside/outside, and go inside the crate. He does need more training as he gets jumpy out of excitement. He also loves taking walks. Currently, Sakima gets a 30-minute walk each day for exercise but should have more physical activity. His leash skills are 'okay.' Sometimes he walks by the side, but his joy of being on the go entices to take the lead. Let's get going! Sakima lives with cats and is very gentle with them. He has no issues with other dogs. With meet and greets to ensure compatibility, a like-minded active sibling may work out wonderfully! He has no bite history toward animals or humans and he does not guard food/toys. Sakima is immensely loved, but he needs a home-to-home adoption asap because of unavoidable neglect. In a crate for up to 12 hours at a time causes this smart, active dog to be nervous and barky. PLEASE help this very nice Aussie be the 'chief' his name suggests. Sakima needs an active lifestyle and opportunities to roam, run, and regain a fun life. An adult-only home with a yard is preferred. Due to his lack of human socialization, Sakima requires patience from someone experienced in Aussies or similar dogs and who can help with behavioral training associated with his fear of people. With tried and true steps of helping wary dogs meet new people, he will open up. He's not gender- or age-specific about people, but rather has a general reluctance to strangers. Rehoming is Sakima's ONLY option. If it comes to surrendering him, the local shelter has promised to euthanize this dog, something the owner is desperately trying to avoid. Rescues, small shelters, and fosters remain filled. Contact [email protected] and please say Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) sent you!
