Courtesy Posting: FRUIT HEIGHTS, UTAH (NORTH OF SALT LAKE CITY) - ID #61906- 'HANK' at ANIMAL CARE OF DAVIS COUNTY REMOTE SHELTER ASKING FOR HELP- ADORABLE, YOUNG PUPPY, PEOPLE AND DOG FRIENDLY- NEEDS EXIT ASAP- ADOPTER OR FOSTER AND RESCUE NEEDED, BREED EXPERIENCE PREFERRED The Davis County shelter reached out to us for help as these puppies have had no interest. The shelter told us puppies are the siblings who are now 8-9 months old, 'came to us along with half a dozen Chow Chow dogs last week and we received two litters of young pups earlier this summer from the same owner. His owner kind of lost control of his intact adult chow chows. The dogs are all fine with each other. All of them are decent in playgroup. Occasionally there is normal beef while they work things out but no fights, nothing concerning at all. Mostly they prefer to be on the fringes of the playing, occasionally entering for short stints. Tolerant is a good descriptor. Throws play bows here and there, will sometimes join in a group run across the yard. Nothing rough or rowdy. All of the chows need slow movements when you first approach them.' We are therefore recommending prior chow experience. While most of these dogs and puppies have now been placed, Hank is still available, likely due to having his head partially shaved (and thus gets overlooked, even though fur grows back), and his brother, Rocco, who has some potential medical. We are looking for either responsible adopters, or fosters and rescues for each pup, they do not need to go together. Regarding Hank, the shelter said, 'Our trainer says he is the second nicest one out of the group, easy to handle, a little bit head shy at first. Sweet over all. Typical chow, suspicious of new people and once he knows you, you're now his soul mate. Hank was very grumbly and avoidant when he arrived here. Hank has done well in play group, tolerant and sometimes playful. He has started to hit the brakes when returning to the dog kennels, he would rather be outside.' Pardon the BAD haircut, but luckily fur grows back. The shelter also let us know he someone had grabbed him when he was running away and he had nipped back at them but didn't break any skin. However, it is recommended to therefore go slower and not suddenly grab him. Other than that, the shelter described him as a 'very sweet boy'. We have additional pictures and a videos the shelter which will be posted online. For direct shelter adoption or rescue inquiries, please contact the shelter directly at: 801-444-2200 and ask for if you require additional assistance, or email: [email protected] Some transport may be available for qualified rescues, adopters must come in person. The shelter will then neuter for an adopter. Please also contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network if asap you are interested in fostering, or pledging for his and/or his brother's rescue, as rescue groups need a foster and support to save.
