About Kya

Calling all Great Pyrenees/large dog lovers!!! Are you looking for a watchdog who is fluffy & beautiful? Look no further! The only problem is the watchdog thing is fake. As soon as the 'intruder' enters your home, they will be Kya's best friend! She's not just a pretty face...this girl is SMART! From the moment�%A0she landed on my doorstep she was housetrained & knew how to walk nicely on the leash. The only time she pulls is if she sees a bunny, which is very exciting for her:) She's buddies with EVERY dog she meets, big or small. Kya knows sit, shake & down, as well as car riding 'etiquette'. I'd love to take credit for all of the above but she already had this skill set. She was clearly loved by someone, at some time in the past. Why a WONDERFUL dog like this ended up in the shelter is beyond me. I guarantee it was through no fault of her own. She is 3-4 years old & weighs 100#. Kya is also crate trained & does not exhibit any naughty/destructive behavior - super 'chill' dog. One thing I'm working on is her need to be near me at all times. She was like that from the first night so it isn't that she's so attached to me. I think she's trying to guard/protect me but that's hard to do when she can't see me. I am working on letting her know that it's okay if I leave the room & her behavior is much improved, over the last 2 weeks. Kya's beautiful, thick coat requires regular brushing. She doesn't love it but she's quite tolerant - never gets snarky. Speaking of which, I've never seen her get growly/ugly under any circumstance. She tolerated her vet visit well, including having blood drawn & was a perfect angel when I gave her a bath. Kya gets really excited when she sees my cat. I don't think she intends him any harm but I don't think most cats would 'enjoy' this kind of attention from a dog this large. If you have a cat in your home, I'd be glad to investigate this further. Out of the hundreds of dogs that I've fostered, over the last 11 years, Kya's definitely one of my favorites! Of course, that depends on what you're looking for. If you want a dog who snuggles with you on the sofa, that's not really her jam. She prefers to lay on the nice, cool floor...right by your feet. Consider applying for her today.
