Meet Mr. Crane! He will certainly be happy to meet you. This dog does happy like no dog I've ever seen. He literally jumps for joy! When I come home, He goes sailing past my head. Crane is very playful. He especially likes those rope toys, which he will play with on his own or he'll play tug of war until your arm falls off. Crane is part border collie and has border collie energy and some herding behaviors. But if you sit still for long enough, he will curl up next to you. That is his favorite place to be, in contact with his people. It gives him a sense of security. Crane did not have a good start in life. He is one year old and has lived in at least four places during the first 10 months, maybe more. Those are just the ones I know of. So in his little world, everyone you love goes away. That makes him crave reassurance. If he can just settle some place and learn that no one is leaving, I think that he should develop a little more independence. Crane literally came within seconds of being euthanized. A very nice person north of Atlanta was at the shelter when they were taking him back and said 'Not today.' She adopted him, but then her neighborhood homeowner's association told her to get rid of him or sell her house and move. That's how he came into rescue, through no fault of his own. Because of his jumping behavior, he may not be a good choice for being around small children. He could bowl them over without meaning to do any harm. When he was younger and living with his adopter, he was chased into the street by two big dogs and hit by a car. It wasn't moving fast enough to hurt him, but it scared him enough that he just doesn't like dogs bigger than him. Crane is fully vetted, has all his shots, is neutered and has been on heartworm and flea preventives since leaving the shelter. Won't you give Mr. Crane a chance? He's a beautiful, sweet-tempered boy who will be overjoyed for a chance to be your best friend.
