Meet Mr. Crane! His name comes from the bird-shaped blaze on his head. Crane is an adorable boy. He loves people. Everyone is just a new chance to get petted or maybe even a treat! When I sat on the ground to meet him, he put his paws on my shouldres and started licking my face. Crane is part border collie and part something else that I can't figure out. He can be energetic because he is only 10 months old, but his absolute favorite thing in the world is to curl up with his people. When I take him to work with me, he curls up in my lap for the drive and just lies there, happy as can be. He doesn't let me out of his sight. If you're looking for an audience when you go to the bathroom, he's your boy. He loves rope toys and will play tug of war whenever you want. He'll also chase every squirrel out of your yard and maybe out of the neighborhood entirely. Crane has some separation anxiety, but I get it. In his first 10 months of life, he's lived at least four different places. In his little world, everyone you love always leaves. He really needs a home where he can build some confidence that this time is forever. I think the anxiety will fade once he understands that. Crane is fearful of other dogs. This is because when he was younger, some big dogs chased him out into the street where he was bumped by a car. He wasn't injured but he was plenty scared so I think it is best for him if he is an only dog. He does get along well with cats, however. Crane was found at a shelter north of Atlanta by a therapist up that way. She was looking for a dog and the exact moment this little puppy was being taken back for euthanasia. She said 'That's not happening today' and took him home. But she lives in a neighborhood with a homeowner's association and the HOA told her to get rid of him or sell her house and move. That's how he came to me, right at the deadline. Crane is pretty undisciplined because he's never been anywhere long enough for any serious training. But he is plenty smart and extremely treat oriented. The vet says he has a border collie brain. Crane is feature complete. He is fully vetted, has all his shots, has been on heartworm preventive, and has been neutered. Won't you give this lovely little boy a chance? He'll be the best friend you ever had.
