SHY AT SHELTER SO MADE RESCUE ONLY! NOW ON DEADLINE FOR 11/24 TO COMMIT OR 'May be at risk for euthanasia 11/25/25 or sooner if warranted' per shelter. THUS, HE WILL LIKELY BE EUTHANIZED 11/25 in AM. HE IS 'RESCUE ONLY' BY A 'NEW HOPE PARTNER ONLY' which means he can NOT be adopted from the shelter directly, and a New Hope partner must pull him out. Emergency/soon to be euthanized! We are in urgent need of finding a chow savvy foster, or at least a foster familiar with chows or similar Asian or spitz breeds. 'CHOO CHOO' is a stunning male chow weighing only 45 lbs and estimated to be only 3 years old. He was found as a stray and looks a bit underweight and was possibly shaved at some point with fur still growing out. Sadly, because Choo Choo was a little scared at intake as is so common for the breed, the shelter made him Rescue Only and put him on a short deadline of 11/24, despite showing signs of warming up. Shelter notes from 11/16 state, 'Slight tail wag when offered treat but did not eat treat, stood at front of kennel as leash was presented. Dog started to back away as door was being opened, would dodge leash attempts and started placing head in divider pocket, able to place large loop over dogs head. Rode fine back to kennel, attached clip leash with no issues, tolerated petting on head but skin crawled when body was petted. Exited taxi into kennel on own. No issue removing leash via clip leash.' A volunteer met him and provided us wonderful videos of him after this readily approaching the kennel fence and gently taking treats. However, the shelter never bothered to reassess him and just put him on the euthanasia list for 11/24 deadline. We are urgently looking for ideally a foster or foster to adopt for Choo Choo, chow, Asian or spitz breed experience recommended. This shelter has made many chow and chow mixes Rescue only, and already killed many who were also shy and young adults. Please do not let this young boy meet the same awful fate.
