Chihuahua / Rat Terrier

Meet Tully Sweet Tully has recently been returned to our shelter. Her mom is no longer able to care for her and made the difficult decision to give her up. Both her mom and Tully are so sad. Tully is feeling scared and abandoned now that the family she thought was hers forever has been upended. We love Tully and are trying to make her feel at home, but what she really needs is a loving, quiet and calm home where she can feel safe again. Tully came from a very bad situation when we initially brought her in a couple of years ago. She had been removed from a hoarding situation by an animal control facility. Neglected and scared, the staff at the animal control fell in love with her. They saw her sweetness and heart and spent a lot of time helping her decompress and getting her used to humans. Their work was wonderful and so kind. They asked if we could rescue her and bring her to our no-kill shelter so she would have a second chance. We agreed, of course! Tully was adopted shortly thereafter. She lived with two other dogs and was doing really well. She is house-trained and learned the cadence of a home environment. Tully is six plus years now. She is a small chi mix, weighing 11 lbs. She's a little overweight and we're watching her diet. She is quiet and calm. She was fine with cats. Given her past, coming back into a shelter environment has sent her into a depression and her interest in things is low. We're giving her time to decompress. Tully has a pretty face, with big soulful eyes that break your heart. They are filled with worry right now, but we know in time, she'll start to settle in. Tully would do well in a quiet and calm environment. She longs to bond to her people. She enjoys being picked up and cuddled, feeling the warmth of her person. She walks beautifully and easily on a leash. She loves soft, cozy blankets, she enjoys the warmth of a fire, the gentle pets of a loving companion. Tully might enjoy having a calm dog to share her time with and help her understand that she is safe. We are going to look for the most loving family we can find. Tully deserves that and more.
