Rex is a very special Dog, Deaf since Birth & a Sponge for Human Love who needs a Home with a yard where he can be the Center of your Attentions. Rex is almost 2.5 years old, born June 29th. He is overtly curious & still overflowing with Puppy Energy & fully grown at 35lbs. Deaf Dogs find everything exciting. Rex has been in my Pack since June 2024 & he is the most Loving Cattle Dog I have ever met, sleeping in your arms with his nose snuggled up against your Neck. Rex is a lot of Fun but definitely has an Off Button when you relax. Rex is also a very Happy Dog, always Smiling, completely Indomitable. Deaf Dogs are easy to train when its One on One, outside of a Pack & he has the Basics down with Hand Signals. All he wants to do is please you. And One on One he is Perfection. He walks on the leash perfectly & would be not only a Loving Companion but also Hiking & a fantastic Agility Dog. He is very much a Velcro Dog. He loves Dog Parks (but I do not). I know that if you can give him the Attention he needs, he will repay you with a Lifetime of Love. He loves being in any vehicle, he loves going on any & all Adventures, he is the first to jump in my Truck. Rex needs a Home with an Engaging Owner with or without a Family. He isn't hyper energetic like most Cattle Dogs unless called upon to be so, his Deafness allows him to enjoy soft, quiet time & any nervous excitement dissipates upon touching him but he is not an Apartment Dog. He is in Perfect Health, up to date on all his Shots, he will need a Rabies follow up in 2 plus years & I have all his Medical & Shelter Records. Since July 2025, he has been on Symparica Trio half dose. Have invested well over $2500 since I rescued him from the Shelter, I wanted to know all about him & his Health, he arrived he had a Bladder Infection for a week, was several lbs overweight & I wanted to know if his Deafness was treatable or not, I invested this money because it was the Right Thing to do. 15 months later I have Three Irreconcilable issues with Rex which are compounded by my new Living Situation & not Rex. 1. Including Rex I have 4 dogs but no longer have a home with a yard & am on the Open Road almost everyday of the month in my Expedition Truck. My 3/Three highly trained Cattle Dogs work as a Pack Off Leash & managing Rex outside with my Dogs is like having 6 dogs, 3 of whom won't listen only because they cannot hear. This is dangerous & exasperating in open country. Unless he is on a leash, he will run up to every Dog, Person or Coyote in his field of vision, he thinks everyone was placed on this Planet to be his friend but he hasn't learnt about Cars, its heart stopping when he bolts across roads to meet someone so 80% of the time in town he is on a Leash (with the yard, I could rotate the Pack & sometimes take Rex individually & by himself, he is Perfection as a Companion). 2. He is taking away from my relationship with my Pack. All of my focus has to be on him & then at quiet time, he is all about sleeping in my arms which I love but its not ideal for the Pack Dynamics. 3. Rex arrived Ball Obsessed & was in a San Diego Shelter from 5 months to 12 months (he was given to the Shelter for Euthanasia at 5 months because he was Deaf after being with his original family for 3 months & in the 7 month period at the Shelter he was adopted & returned several times, no-one kept him for more than 48 hours but no-one at the Shelter explained to me or the previous Adopters that he was Deaf. If you let him, he will spend ALL Day catching & returning anything you throw him & picking up objects & dropping them at your feet until you protest. When I got Rex he was Wild, Abused & Anxious & it was understandable. I have given him so much Love & have him by my side 24/7 much to the dismay of my Pack. This level of attention to the Non Alpha has become problematic for the Pack. He always rides Shotgun with me & sleeps resting with his Head & Nose in my neck & shoulder. Because he is always by my side, when separated he has a moment of Separation Anxiety but then self soothes. I am extremely reluctant to let him go but he needs a more stable, safe & contained environment. He loves other Dogs, he loves People & he loves Kids. He loves physical contact & to be close to you as possible when relaxing, his Superpower is the way he showers you in Physical Affection. I have owned & trained hundreds of Cattle Dogs growing up on the farm in NZ & have owned many here in the USA & can promise you Rex will be the best Dog you have ever owned & I am more than open to a Slow Transition, after all he is very much part of my Family & I want him to go to the very best home & if he doesn't work out, I want him back immediately. Thank you for getting this far, I have shared with you every Single Negative & only some of his Positives, he is the most Amazing Being but needs to be the Center of someone's Love, not a Working Pack. If you want more photos, I have hundreds..
