About DIXIE

DIXIE is a 7-year-old, 8-lb Shih Tzu who came to us after her owner became ill. She is an incredibly sweet little girl who loves being close to her person. She will sit with you on a chair, give gentle kisses, and gently paw at you when she wants attention or to be picked up. She's happiest being by your side and will be a wonderful companion. DIXIE gets along well with her foster's two Pomeranians and has been an easy house guest. She would be fine as an only dog but will not be happy spending hours by herself. We have not had her around cats or kids but think she would be fine with older kids. DIXIE is fully potty trained, walks perfectly on a leash, and enjoys spending time outside. Her foster has taken her on several park walks, and she has loved every one of them. She doesn't require a fenced yard. At night she sleeps comfortably in bed with her foster family. DIXIE is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
