About Teddy

Teddy came back to me last year when Animal Control tracked his microchip back to my kennel after his owner failed to come in to claim him. I intended to provide him a forever home, but my circumstances have changed and I am losing the farm, unable to take him with me. Teddy just turned two years old and is intact, registered, and OFA health tested, including Excellent hip rating, normal patella, and genetic screening for testable inherited conditions. He was raised with goats, chickens, cattle and cats, and he loves to be out on the farm. Since his incarceration at Animal Control, he avoids going into shelter, and when outside will sleep in pouring rain. When he is outdoors 24/7 his eyes become red and irritated. Two of my vets have examined him; no ectropion, entropion, corneal scratches or ulcers, tear test shows normal tear production. They said he may have allergies, or he may be one of those white dogs who always have tear stains. I have found that generic Zyrtec or Claritin works well. Because he spent his first year passed around to people who did not value him, he craves attention from humans. Shutting him in a room away from his people feels like incarceration for him, and he would prefer to be guarding the door to your bedroom at night. Teddy is fine on the light-colored distressed wood flooring at our vet's office, but is fearful if the wood floor is slippery. Long staircases feel dangerous, but a few short steps going in or out of the house are okay. Teddy's best home would be as an indoor dog with outside privileges, either in a fenced yard or on leash. He respects fences, has perfect house manners, does not climb or dig, and is house trained. He loves, loves, loves treats, whether it's canned food, bagged treats, a bite of your meal, or the allergy pill that he swallows readily. Teddy is located in Lynchburg, Tennessee. I can deliver to his perfect home within a four hour drive, or he can be picked up here. Vet references are required.
