This is Chief! I am a 22 year old woman who adopted chief as a three/four year old dog and he's now been with me 2 1/2 years. He is the love and light of my life when we are inside our house together. When we go outside and interact with other animals, he has the tendency to become aggressive and has had a couple incidents with attempting to attack. While speaking with dog trainers and the people who worked with him at the shelter, I learned that chief is very motivated in his behavior by fear. He is afraid of most men and all dogs which leads to him being reactive. I love this dog more than I have ever loved an animal and as a dog owner for my entire life, it is extremely disheartening to have had interactions with other animals that have left me injured from attempting to control him. He does well with men that he slowly learned to trust and in the presence of a man he respects, he has never acted out in the way he has with men while I am alone. I truly believe this dog to be good, but unfortunately I can no longer care for him. I wish for him to go to a loving home or a place where he can be free and happy without the stress of feeling the need to protect me. He is so sweet and loving towards women and I would love for him to find a home that he can live the rest of his life out in.
