About Howdy

I am an outstanding athlete, and that is what I most enjoy showing you as often as possible! My speed and agility is worthy of trophies, if that were a thing. When I visit the mountains, there is a special place where my foster drops me at the bottom of a hill, and I run at top speed while yipping in delight for the freedom of it all. Once I reach the top, I turn around and yip all the way down while continuing to zoom until I reach the bottom! Equally as important and exciting to me is swimming. I was lucky to get an in-ground pool this summer, and I would swim all day. Being in water is soothing to me, and I often just go in by myself and paddle around for a bit before getting out of the pool. Lakes and ponds make me just as happy, though. If you throw sticks or balls into the water, I will retrieve them for you and drop them at your feet. So you know I'm an athlete and a water dog, but you should also know I am incredibly intelligent. Wanting to please you is of utmost importance to me, so that combined with my intelligence makes for some pretty cool tricks I am excited for you to teach me. I am also silly and love coming over to you to show my love with my head on the floor/couch/bed while my butt is in the air, tail wagging. And showing you my love is such a sweet part of my personality, too. I am very cuddly and like to be shown affection by you, too. I get along well with dogs and have a sweet and non-threatening way to establish boundaries with other dogs. I have learned that from being a foster with so many other fosters. I love to cuddle with dogs when humans are not around. I am okay with kids but don't want unkind or rough playing, as I find it scary (and unnecessary). Car rides make me very happy and soothed, and I am calm in the car until we arrive to our destination. On a leash, I walk very easily on your left side. I don't pull, and I can walk for miles. I am crate-trained and neutered. I can be left out when you leave the house, as I am not destructive. If you are looking for two dogs, I have a best friend who is equally as fabulous and I love to snuggle and play with that I'd be happy to share your love with over the next 15 years. She's 5 years old. Oh yeah- I'm three years old and a male. I am mostly cattle dog but also have other fabulous breeds in me to make me one heck of DNA masterpiece!
