Grandpa Morty at North Central Shelter on Medical Alert!!! This shelter isn't a place for a sweet old guy. He needs a warm bed and a loving home. Please be his hero!! He is MAJOR medically alerted and not improving in the shelter. He needs extra medical attention ASAP! Morty was picked up by our officers after we received a call about a Pit Bull running loose on the steps of City Hall in Downtown LA. He had a microchip but sadly no one came for him. Morty enjoys his time in the yard with his volunteer friends. He knows 'sit' and takes treats gently. Since he had been barrier reactive, Morty started his first playgroup with a muzzle. He did well enough the second time with 2 social female dogs for the muzzle to be removed. Morty has some intermittent lameness on his hind end and should see an outside Vet for further care. Due to his age and these circumstances, he needs to leave the shelter as soon as possible! Morty's stats: 10 years young, Neutered male, 86lbs. 11/07 volunteer notes: Leashed right up at door. Spry in yard! Rolled over on his back rubbing himself in the grass. I rubbed his belly while he was like that. Takes treats when they are right in his face. Some reactive barking when a dog was up at the fence line, able to walk him away. Friendly guy, all smiles!
