About ROXY

ROXY is an adorable 5 year old, 9.7 pound Yorkie mix who was surrendered because of a family move. She can be a little nervous in new environments, but once she feels safe, her loving nature shines through. She's affectionate, loyal, and happiest when she's right by your side. ROXY is typically a quiet and calm companion who absolutely adores her people. She loves to snuggle, and when you come home, she can hardly contain her excitement, running around and jumping up to greet you! Ear scratches and belly rubs are her favorites, and she'll happily soak up all the affection she can get. ROXY gets along nicely with calm dogs about her size but doesn't enjoy bigger dogs or dogs that are too pushy or in her face. She'll give a little growl if another dog crowds her space, but she loves cats and gets so excited to see them! We haven't had her around kids but we think that she would be okay with respectful older children. ROXY is doing well with her potty training. She's about 75% of the way there and improving as she gets more comfortable and settles into a routine. She does best with a consistent schedule and patient guidance. She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and usually prefers to stay close by your side. In the car, she can be a bit anxious at first, but gentle reassurance and hearing her name help her relax. At night, ROXY loves curling up in the big bed, snuggling under the blankets, and staying close to her person. She even gets adorable little zoomies when she first hops in bed! Though she hasn't shown much interest in toys yet, she's becoming more confident every day and may start to play as she continues to blossom. ROXY has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
