About Ruby

Ruby is a 9 year old female, spayed, weighing 8 lbs. She is house trained and potty pad trained. She was briefly rehomed a couple years ago to 'animal lovers' who had a teenage son who abused her; he was overheard to brag, 'I threw that little rat in the kennel and slammed the door in her face!' She returned to me traumatized, retreating to a corner of the room, trembling and fearful. Vet exam later showed that her sensitive tail was a result of a recently healed break. Ruby is not your average chihuahua, and only barks like a mad dog when she hears the big dogs outside trash talking coyotes in the distance. She is not aggressive and has never growled or snapped at a human. Ruby needs a home where she can be a beloved lap dog. She loves to sleep on a bed with her human, burrowing under the covers in the wintertime, but will sleep on a dog bed in your room if you are not a dog-in-the-bed type of human. She has been kennel trained, but may still be a little nervous about kenneling after her experience at a former home. You can meet Ruby in Lynchburg, Tennessee or I may be able to deliver within a 3 hour drive. Applicants with vet references are preferred.
