About ROSCO

Adoption Fee: $350
Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

ROSCO is an adorable 6-year-old, 10.5 pound Chihuahua with a big heart who's searching for a patient, loving family to help him blossom into the confident companion he's meant to be. ROSCO truly wants to bond with his person, but he needs a little time and understanding to feel safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes a sweet, snuggly buddy who loves curling up beside you, or even better, right in your arms. Once he begins to feel at home, you'll see his personality shine through, especially when he starts wagging his curly tail in excitement or when he gently bumps your leg with his nose to say hello. He does howl and bark a bit when his foster family leaves, but he settles down with time. In his foster home, ROSCO has shown some space-claiming tendencies with male dogs, so he may do best alongside a calm, slightly bigger female dog who won't be afraid to stand her ground, or as the only pup in the home, where he can soak up all the affection himself. He is not suited for a home with children, as he needs a calmer environment to feel secure and we don't know how he would be with cats. ROSCO is still working on potty training and does well with frequent trips outside, where he also enjoys barking at the squirrels who dare cross his path. He knows his name and responds when called, which makes training that much easier. He isn't quite ready for leash walks yet, so a fenced yard is a must to keep him safe as he continues to build confidence. At first, he wasn't so sure about toys, but now he's discovered how much joy they bring and he loves them. At bedtime, ROSCO is happy sleeping in a dog bed close to his family, and he adores burrowing under soft blankets or snoozing on his back with his belly in the air. ROSCO has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
