About Adira

The name 'Adira' primarily means, 'strong' , 'mighty' , or 'powerful' and this beautiful girl is one of the strongest puppies this rescue has ever seen. Adira was left tied to our front gate at 6 PM on the Wednesday before Halloween with nothing, no food or water, no coat or a nametag. Although Adira was abandoned with nothing, she immediately took to our shelter owner and HAPPILY came inside to get warm and have some dinner. She was fearful but after only one day of spending time with people and other animals, Adira has had a complete change in her attitude and is really starting to show us her unique personality! She gets along seamlessly with other dogs, she absolutely loves to play and have someone to hangout with during the day; big or small! Since Adira was dropped off we are not certain on her temperament around children or cats, but from a passing we have had NO issues with her being aggressive towards anyone or anything. From a general check it has been determined that Adira is only about a year old, possibly even younger, so she is still very adaptive and willing to learn new things. She is very smart and has already taken to her name beautifully, as well as leash and collar training. Potty training has begun and she is doing wonderful in her kennel she is very well behaved and likes to keep everything in order! Adira will be continuing her process in vetting until she is COMPLETELY vetted, and we will get as much information and background history as we can after her first vet appointment. It is believed that Adira may not have had the best treatment with whomever had her before, as she does take a little bit of time getting used to new people and quick movements/ noises startle her. We are working on getting her past this everyday, but it will take time to fully allow her to trust people again. Adira would absolutely love to join a family who has other animals, children, or just someone to give her lots of love and snuggles. She loves to get belly rubs and snuggle in with you, she definitely thinks she is a lap dog! She has a beautiful smile and is so silly when she is comfortable enough to open up to you. Adira is very unique in not only her coloring or her eyes, but her soul as well. Adira has such a strong and beautiful soul and she deserves so much more than what she has been given thus far.
