Courtesy Posting: X URGENT AT BALDWIN PARK, CA (SO CAL) ID #A5732903 LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES- 'LAZY' MAY BE ADOPTABLE AFTER NEUTER, BUT MAY also NEED FOSTER & RESCUE NOW- ONLY 29 LBS AND SWEET, shy SENIOR BOY LISTED AS A 9 YR MALE CHOW X, BUT MAY BE AN ESKIE X- looking for a LOVING, FOREVER HOME, FOSTER, FOSTER TO ADOPT AND OR A RESCUE TO SAVE HIM!! We are in urgent need of finding a patient and caring home, or foster and rescue, for this adorable, smaller spitz mix. Lazy was sadly surrendered to the Baldwin Park high kill shelter and reported to be a 9 year old chow mix, although we believe he is more likely an eskie or other spitz breed mix given his smaller size, white color, and pink tongue. We were told his owners alleged he suddenly had some food aggression and bit them when they pulled some cup away. The shelter has tested him and did not find any issues with food, but of course, it is recommended to take obvious precautions to avoid future problems. Here are the shelter notes that state, ' Lazy was already in the yard when the handler decided to begin the handling assessment. He was lightly restrained on leash, and presented with a bowl of food. He showed no interest in the food, and moved away from the bowl when the handler scooted the bowl closer to him. The handler used the Assess-A-Hand to offer him some of the food, but he turned away. He did not show any interest in the food, and did not react when the handler picked up the bowl.' Lazy is noted as needing more socialization, and being defensive and fearful. As this poor little older guy is not doing well in the shelter environment, he is expected to become urgent and on the euthanasia list soon. Lazy is still hidden in the back where no one sees him and before he is made adoptable, if this ever happens. If and while Rescue Only, any potential adopters will need to go through a rescue group. And most rescues will either need a foster or a foster to adopt to save him. Therefore, if you may be interested in fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or helping Lazy in some other way (ie., pledging for his rescue), please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap, and we can try to pair fosters or interested parties with a willing rescue group. Potential adopters and Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly at [email protected] and by calling: 626-962-3577 or 626-430-2378 and providing his ID number.
