About Maple

Adoption Fee: $500
Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Maple is finally safe in Wisconsin after arriving on 10/4 from a high-kill shelter in Arkansas - and she couldn't be settling into her foster home any better! Maple has overcome more in her short life than most dogs ever should. Back in April, at just 2.5 months old and weighing only 12 lbs, she entered a crowded Arkansas shelter after surviving a cruel home ear-cropping attempt. Someone cut her ears off with scissors and had popsickle sticks taped to her ears likely trying to rehape them? Either way, a horrible and cruel thing do to and she needed reconstructive surgery to close up the sores and stop the bleeding. Despite her traumatic start, Maple has never lost her kind, gentle heart. Now about 8 months old and 35 lbs, Maple is thriving in her Wisconsin foster home. She's incredibly dog-friendly - she gets along beautifully with the entire pack, including a crabby dominant female and four other dogs. She loves to play but isn't overbearing, and she'll happily settle down after some fun. Maple is also cat-friendly - she's been polite and mostly uninterested in the cats in her foster home. She's very affectionate and absolutely lights up when she gets attention from people. She's also incredibly smart and very treat motivated - she watches everything you do and catches on fast. She'll likely be a quick learner when it comes to tricks and basic training. She's currently working on leash walking and doing well so far. Potty training is in progress and she's catching on quickly. At night, Maple sleeps quietly in her crate but would love to curl up in bed next to you, too. She's happiest just being near her people, soaking up love and comfort.
