Honey is a sweet and cuddly older dog. She would thrive with an experienced pet owner looking for a couch buddy! Honey has a very affectionate personality; she loves to snuggle with her family and her stuffed toys. She is more of an investigator than a fetcher, and she loves her snufflemat toy. Honey is an introvert at heart; she would prefer to be home relaxing rather than out on adventures. She's very treat-motivated and is generally a good housemate. Honey is a very relaxed dog and is happy with morning, afternoon, and bedtime walks of 10-15 minutes. She likes to sleep in until 7 or 8 am, and her favorite days are spent curled up in a nest of blankets on the couch or bed. Honey is used to family working outside of the home during business hours and will always be happy to welcome you home! Honey would thrive in a quiet household with an experienced owner. She has lived with one cat for about eight years and spent a few of those years in a house with many cats - she tends to let them lead the interactions and minds her own business. Honey loves greeting children politely during walks, but it makes her anxious to share her home space with them. She would do best in a home without young or rambunctious children. A fairly organized home may also be best since she loves to investigate and collect things she finds around the house. Honey is house-trained and knows basic commands. She is accustomed to being loose in the house and is crated only for brief periods while the family is home. Honey would do best with an experienced adult pet owner because she has a tendency to collect toys and household items, such as shoes, in her bed and sometimes tries to guard them. She also tends to countersurf if left to her own devices. We have done our best to work on these habits - in both cases, she responds to the sit command to stop the behavior. We believe these would be manageable enough for an all-adult home, but this is one of the reasons we would not recommend a home with children. Honey is up to date on her shots and annual vet visits. She is spayed. She has no special medical or dietary needs that have been identified. She's not a huge fan of grooming, so we often take her to a groomer or the vet for nail trims and baths. Overall, Honey has been an affectionate and loyal companion for the last decade! We are heartbroken to be looking for a new home for her. We are genuinely only doing so because she is visibly stressed around our 3-year-old son, even after years of working on building a relationship between them. This leads to her being kept separate from the family for much of the day, which just isn't a good fit for a snuggly dog. Our son is also recently diagnosed with autism and isn't learning safe pet boundaries as quickly as we had hoped, and we have another baby on the way. We would love for Honey to find a peaceful and affectionate home where she can be at ease!
