I am heartbroken to have to re-home our beautiful Ragdoll, Cali. I purchased Cali from a breeder in Idaho because I couldn't find a rescue. Cali produced only 2 litters but wasn't putting out more than 1 or 2 kittens so they retired her. She is a TORTIE. I did not know what a Tortie was but since having her, I now know. They call it having a 'Tortitude'...in other words, it's my way or the highway attitude. My previous Ragdoll was not like this. I feel the breeder should've asked if I knew about Torties and their 'Tortitude'. Cali is precious, weighs only about 8.5 lbs. and can be the sweetest girl, kneading on us, so affectionate and playfully adorable. But, trying to get her cooperation for brushing or nail trimming is very difficult. I've been taking her to a professional for the nails. I'm able to brush her as much as she will 'allow'. Granted, she is only 3-1/2 years old (d.o.b. 4/21/2022) and has been with us for only 3-1/2 months. She might become more cooperative as she ages, but it's becoming too difficult for us at this age. (We're in our 70's). She has 'episodes' that appear like she is wheezing or trying to bring up a hairball but nothing comes up. I sent our holistic vet a video & he feels she probably has asthma. Breeder denies knowing anything about it and believes it's just a cough. There's really not much that can be done if she does have asthma and I do not know if it will get worse as she ages. For now, she is healthy and beautiful! She can go weeks without an episode and then suddenly she'll have one. (We keep our air purifier running and changed her litter both of which seem to have helped) She just sort of wheezes for 15-30 seconds and then just seems a little tired, but pretty quickly goes back to playing. (She LOVES plastic springs and carries them in her mouth as if they were her kittens. SO ADORABLE) So, while she is beautiful(wish there was more space for more photos as she has gorgeous colors on her back) and can be so precious and sweet, I think her 'tortitude' is too much for me. She is a Traditional Seal Bicolor Tortie Calico Ragdoll. It took her about 3 days before she came out from under our couch...so a little slow on adjusting to new home. She is still a little skittish. We live in Southern Oregon. I will include her cat tree and water fountain (both of which she loves), toys, litter tray with litter and cute little pink crate. I am asking $300 which is less than half of what I paid. I will be very discerning on who adopts/buys her. Preferably, someone familiar with the Ragdoll breed and understands Torties and is patient. Also important is someone who wants an INDOOR kitty. At the cattery where she was from they had 2 large dogs and, of course, many cats. There were no problems with any of those, although the breeder said she feels Cali likes people better than other cats.
