Meet our sweet handsome boy, Odie! Odie has quite the story, though it is a sad one. He was unfortunately not given the best treatment and was left tied to the fire hydrant in front of our rescue on 10/15 early in the afternoon. Although Odie was abandoned by whom he trusted, he sat quietly and patiently until our kennel manager found him 20 minutes later. This sweet baby had just been left and displayed NO signs of aggression towards people, he was immediately wagging his tail and happy to come inside, giving kisses as he went. As soon as Odie was untied we quickly learned that he was different from the rest, Odie has a bounce in his walk and after taking him to the vet for X-rays it has been determined that he does NOT have hip dysplasia, but it is neurological and 'believed' to be Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This is a condition that affects his part of the brain that controls his motor impulses; causing him to fail to move normally, especially when it comes to maintaining normal balance, posture, and coordination. While there is no cure for this, Odie has been able to compensate for his condition and go about living a pain free life, the vet stated that he does not seem to be in any pain as of now. As he ages there is a chance that his condition could worsen but for now Odie is happy and living his best wobbly life at our rescue! Odie needs to find a family/ companion who will not only help to take care of this condition, but hopefully give him a better environment in which it will not get worse. Odie is very active and loves to play though he is wobbly and unsteady on his feet,he loves fetch and toys but he especially loves to cuddle. He is quite fast for how silly his run is but he is SO full of life and love and deserves so much more than what this world has given to him. Odie is about 5 years old, he is house and kennel trained as well as completely vetted. He is very well behaved and gets along seamlessly with other animals and children. Odie loves to go for adventures though he does get tired quicker than your average pup so a short walk will do him just fine! He does need a little more guidance through life, but he is full of love and has not a single mean bone in his body. Please help us find this handsome baby his forever that will not only take care of him but truly love him for EVERYTHING that he is, and show him that just because you aren't like the rest DOES NOT mean you deserve to be treated that way. PAWS is dedicated to ensuring that Odie finds the absolute best match for him and his situation, he has stolen the hearts of EVERYONE at the rescue and it is very important to us that he is taken care of properly. Odie would absolutely love to meet you, and steal your heart with his stud of a smile! He hopes to see you soon! Let's find his family before Christmas!
