Meet Remington 'Remi' Mini Australian Shepherd|Male|4 years old|42lbs Remi is a beautiful, intelligent, and energetic boy who's ready to find the right home to match his big personality. He was born in August 2021 and has been well cared for, up to date on all vaccines, nuetered, heart worm negative, and healthy. Remi thrives on structure, clear direction, and routine. He's incredibly smart and loves to work and play. A fenced yard is a must for this guy, fetch is his absolute favorite game! He also loves a good game of tug of war. He also can be really cute and silly when he gets into a good game of chase; whether that be his tail, lizards, or a laser light or flashlight. Once he's had his exercise and feels safe, Remi is a total smuggler who loves relaxing with his people. He knows his basic commands (sit, down) is house-trained, and walks nicely one a harness lead. Like many Aussies, he has a strong herding instinct and needs a confident, experienced owner who can give him consistent guidance and continue his training. He needs a home that will keep him active and engaged. Remi would do best as the only dog in the home. He has shown resource guarding around food and toys with other dogs, and while he's had no exposure to cats, he's uncomfortable around young children. His ideal match would be an adults-only household that understands herding breeds and can help him continue to build confidence. Remi needs more training and behavior modification to work on his reactivity to new people, crates, other dogs, and door manners. He previously had unrestricted access to his crate which caused him to become protective of it, he has not had a crate for about a year and has no been destructive in the home. He has a history of two nips both involving strangers coming into his home. One when a stranger was entering the front door and he got loose of the owners hand and nipped the person coming in, and another where a stranger was in the kitchen and he was not expecting them when he came in from the backyard. He does not react this way with family or friends that are invited into the home that he has met before. He would do well with a calm and structured environment and an adopter comfortable with giving him space to build trust at his own pace and committed to continued training. In the right home, Remi with absolutely shine. He's loyal, playful, affectionate, and loves to learn. If you're experienced with working breeds and looking for a rewarding training partner and best friend, Remi would be the perfect fit.
