Mitch is a 2 year old Golden Retriever/Australian Shepard Mix. He is a very sweet dog and is great with our kids (9,7, and 4), but the energy and herding with our current situation isn't going to work. I have worked from home for two years he's been here, but with my new role, we will be away from home frequently, and his herding instinct is starting to negatively affect our kids. We just don't have the room to let him grow. We also have an older dog who is very dominant towards Mitch and giving him anxiety. He doesn't bite and is not aggressive, but has nipped at the hands of strangers or people he first met when they stopped petting him, trying to pull them wear to go. We talked with a trainer and this is normal behavior with the breed, but with me being away from home for an extended period of time, we don't think its fair and want to find him a good home that better fits his breed and energy, especially given our dominant other dog. He is up to date on vaccinations and neutered. Ok on a leash but could use more time and training. He is ok with our dog, not dominant at all, and doesn't have a lot of experience with other dogs. No experience with cats.
