Meet Stimpy !! This guy was adopted from a shelter with his brother back in 2018 and then recently both were dumped back there where they were close to being euthanized for space. Poor guy is looking for a stable family that will be loyal to him and return his love. Although he came to us with his brother Ren, they were clearly showing littermate syndrome issues that resolved once separated. They are far happier apart and are able to relax and live their own lives now. (His brother Ren is posted separately. ) Stimpy is an 8 year old, male, chihuahua mix. He weighs 11 Pounds and is full grown. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccines microchipped. He is thankfully Heartworm negative and on preventions. When they arrived, we could immediately see the signs of littermate syndrome. Stimpy was the dominant one and Ren was the submissive one. Stimpy was nippy toward people due to overprotection of his brother. A trait that disappeared almost immediately once apart. Stimpy has been with many other dogs since and is not behaving in a dominant way. It was just a result of the brothers forming an unnatural and unhealthy bond by being forced to stay together. Stimpy has turned into a really easy going guy now. He loves hanging out with his people and didn't even mind us wrapping him up like a burrito for a cute photo. He is a cool dog for sure. He did initially get scared if new people try to pick him up. He would nip or bite if you went to grab him right away. We haven't seen that from him anymore. He's been much more social with everyone. Making sure he is expecting you to pick him up is still a good idea. After a few days of getting to know you he becomes obsessed with you and wants all the love and cuddles. He has been doing really well with potty training so far. He was great on car rides. He will sit on your lap or on the floor board and chill for the ride. He is good on a leash as well. He is crate trained but will whine in it if he can see you. Stimpy does well with other dogs of all sizes. He really doesn't care about the dogs around him and mostly ignores them. We haven't seen him with cats but we suspect he would do well. He is fostered with kids over 10 and has done great. He will need to be with kids old enough and respectful enough to not treat him like a toy. He will need a day or so to trust everyone in the house. Kids need to be able to give him space at first. He has a low to medium energy level. He's becoming a little more playful as he comes out of his shell, but mostly likes to hang out in your lap or near you. He will go on a walk around the neighborhood or yard if you want to but is not a high energy guy. He has not shown any aggression over food, treats or toys with dogs or humans. He was very mean to his brother over food. He has done none of that with any other dog since the two have been apart. Stimpy is such a sweet guy. He has a big heart if you can give him some time to see you're safe before picking him up. Once he does you'll have a tiny little shadow following you everywhere! Vet and home checks required.
