URGENT!!! AT RISK FOR SURRENDER/EUTHANIZATION! HILLIARD, OHIO. (willing to drive up to 1 HR ). 3.5 Y/O MALE GSD (DOB: EST 5/15/22). His name is 'REUBEN '. Background: Current Shepherd Parent got Reuben about 3 months ago from the shelter. UTD on shots WITH record. Fixed. Good with kids that he knows, has Stranger Fear, so needs PROPER INTRODUCTION and time to warm up. Good with FEMALE dogs, aggressive to Male dogs. Good with cats. House trained. Crate trained, but does not need, has great behavior when left out and alone, just put the trash up. Any known medical issues?: 1) Itchy skin, the vet said his itching may be a nervous issue, but I think he needs to be tested for allergies. 2) Sore hip. A shelter worker told the Current Shepherd Parent that he may have Hip Dysplasia but he has not been tested for that. His hip does not slow him down except he doesn't run very fast. He should probably be tested for Hip Dysplasia. He is not on any medications. ENERGY LEVEL: AVERAGE. PREY DRIVE LEVEL: HIGH, but good with cats. He will chase small outside animals, such as rabbits, squirrels, Etc. Weighs 103 lbs. Currently on Ultimate No Beef food. Good with car rides?: YES. Socialized with: *other dogs: YES *people?:NO . Good with meeting new people? (ALWAYS USE PROPER INTRODUCTION!): Has Stranger Fear, so needs Proper Introduction and time to warm up. Once he warms up, he is good to go. If strangers (adults and kids) give him treats, such as cheese, it will help him warm up quicker. Loves: cheese - bones - his bed - outside time - his leash - cuddling - going on walks - chilling on the couch - playing with kids that he knows - playing with female dogs - balls - fetch - sleeping in bed with his person - being near his person - chew toys - chew bones. *Intelligent and knows Basic Commands?: YES. *Good Recall? (ALWAYS RETRAIN BEFORE ALLOWING OFF LEASH):YES . *Good on a Leash?: YES. *Lovable?: YES. *Eager and fast learner?: YES. Bite History?: NO NOTES FROM CURRENT SHEPHERD PARENT: 'He is so smart, and once he knows his family, he is the perfect dog once getting past introduction. He's even been great while babysat by strangers. He is such a lover. Best dog ever.' Re Homing because�'�|: Reuben is being aggressive to the Current Shepherd Parent's other male dog. CSP also is living in an apartment and cannot give Reuben the life that he needs. Will thrive best�'�|?: in a home with NO other male dogs and someone who can help work with him through his Stranger Fear. Comes with: collar, leash, harness, food, hip vitamins that the shelter gave CSP but so far, he has never needed them .
