Meet Max PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS: Max is a sweet energetic Shorthair who would do best in a quieter home. He does well with other dogs, cats and is okay with kids. MAX'S STORY: Max is the kind of dog whose loyalty runs deep and quiet. At 55 lbs and around 8-9 years old, this long-legged male, lean GSP is the epitome of a gentle spirit - sweet, soft-natured, and quietly devoted. He may be timid at first, but Max doesn't cower or shut down; instead, he observes, takes in the world at his own pace, and slowly begins to trust those who show him patience and kindness. Max is sensitive to loud household sounds-like clinking glasses or dropped objects-but he's surprisingly calm through storms and fireworks. Despite that, he gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and even respectful kids. His demeanor is tender and non-reactive-'no mean bone in his body,' as his former owner puts it-and we wholeheartedly agree. Though still figuring out life indoors, Max is making progress every day. He self-crates when inside. He's a snuggler and is definitely a Velcro dog-staying close when he's unsure and clearly finding comfort in being near his person. He loves to run and play in the yard, especially with other dogs, and has a special fondness for tennis balls (though he's more of a cover-peeler than a fetch champ�'�| for now!). With some guidance, he could easily learn to retrieve and thrive with a purpose. Max would do best in a quieter home that respects his boundaries and honors his journey. He doesn't ask for much-just love, consistency, and the space to be himself.
