If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wilmington, Delaware for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Steve is a spunky little gentleman who's proving that age is just a number! Though technically a senior, this pint-sized Yorkie has the pep and charm of a much younger pup. He loves his walks, meeting new people (and dogs!), and showing off his adorable zoomies whenever he finds a good patch of grass. When Steve first came into rescue, he was in rough shape-bald patches, irritated skin, and a lingering cough from a URI. After some TLC, a much-needed dental and neuter, and plenty of love, he's looking and feeling so much better. His skin continues to heal beautifully, and his personality is starting to shine through-playful, curious, and full of gentle sass. Steve is fully housebroken, great on a leash, and enjoys being near his people. He's independent when it comes to nap time (prefers his 'spot' on the sofa), but he'll melt for a good belly rub. He's not a fan of eggs (weird, right?), but he's all about adventure-whether it's a stroll around the block or cruising in his pet cart. Steve would thrive in a calmer home with adults or kids 6+. A fenced yard would be ideal for his zoomies, and another friendly dog companion would be a bonus! He does best with minimal stairs, as steep ones aren't his thing. He's not been tested with cats. Steve is the perfect mix of spunky and sweet-a little guy who's ready to spend his golden years loved, pampered, and part of the family.
