Zeus is a 5-year-old pitbull with a serious case of 'little dog syndrome'-he thinks everyone wants to be his best friend and doesn't quite realize he's a big boy (70+ lbs) with a big presence. Despite his size and breed, he's a total baby at heart. I've been in and out of Zeus's life since he was a puppy and have seen firsthand what he's been through and how much he's grown. He was abruptly and unexpectedly left in my care by his owner, and although I love and care for him deeply, I can't give him the space and lifestyle he truly needs. Zeus is full of lovable contradictions: he naps like a grandpa but plays like a puppy; he's a small dog trapped in a large body; and while he may look like he wants to eat your face, he really just wants to be friends and kiss on you. He has a serious case of separation anxiety that hasn't eased with age. He will literally follow you everywhere, and if there's an inch of space next to you, he'll find a way to fit himself into it. He must be the center of attention-whether that means being sweet or being a brat because you didn't give him the proper hello when you got home from work. Strong-willed, vocal, and hilariously human in his attitude, Zeus gets along with pretty much anything that gives him attention-kids, cats, and small dogs included. He responds best to deep, confident commands (he's used to a man's voice) and reads human tone and body language remarkably well. He's affectionate, eager to please, and just wants to be part of the pack-even if the pack includes a cat who's not impressed. He's not perfect and needs patience, reinforcement, and love. He forgets he's not the boss, how big and strong he is, and that not everyone wants to be his friend. But he's loyal, hilarious, and full of heart. Despite the hardships he's faced, he always comes out with a smile and a wagging tail. He's just a big baby with a tough exterior who truly wants to be loved and belong. I'm not just looking to pass Zeus along-I'm looking to place him in a home where he'll be truly understood and loved. He's trained for his people, and with a little time, patience, and positive reinforcement, he'll bond deeply with his new family.Although he is not neutered or microchipped and health/ vet/ vaccines are unknown I'll support his transition however I can, including introductions, retraining, and covering vet costs and neutering if needed. Zeus deserves more than a temporary fix-he deserves a forever family. If you're ready to love a dog who's rough around the edges but pure gold inside, reach out.
