Bluey is a 5 1/2-month-old heeler puppy who would love to have a home with plenty of space to run and possibly livestock to work. She is a very well-behaved puppy who is quiet in her crate, patient at mealtimes and knows commands like sit, lay down, leave it and stay. She is also excelling at potty training and sleeps through the night. Typical of her breed, she exhibits strong herding instincts and has great working-dog characteristics like high intelligence and strong eye contact. She is always looking to see what her foster mom needs help with around the farm. Like some heelers, Bluey can be exuberant and, when excited, can nip (at your lower legs or hands) so we do not recommend a home with small children. She also tends to chase cats so a home without cats or free-roaming chickens would also set her up for success. Bluey gets along with other dogs, but she plays hard and nips at other dogs during play, so any dog buddies would need to match her rough and tumble play style. Bluey is presently being fostered in Prineville, Oregon, but her foster mom is happy to meet a potential adopter for a meet and greet anywhere in Central Oregon. She spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and has been wormed and microchipped. She has also had her rear dewclaws removed. Her adoption fee is $400.
