Mabel is a 22 month old Australian Cattle Dog. She is a very sweet, funny, and extremely smart dog. We got her when she was just 8 weeks old, and excited to raise her on our small hobby farm. 2 months later we moved to Las Vegas and left the acreage behind. Mabel didn't do well with the move and started displaying leash reactivity when she was around 4 months old. We tried many different training techniques, most of them only made her worse. We were going to continue training her and working her through this, until recently, she got into a fight with our other small dog. We realized it would be better for her to go to a home where she could have room to roam, play, and be a cattle dog. Living in the city, we know that we can't give that to her, and that it would be right to give her a chance for a better life. We want Mabel to go to either a ranch, a home with lots of acreage, or to someone who is very active; who could make sure she has enough exercise. We don't think Mabel would do well with kids, so we won't allow any families to adopt her. We will also only re-home her with someone who has a good understanding of dog training and lots of experience, in order to help her thrive. If you want to adopt Mabel here are some things you should know: - Mabel loves physical touch, be prepared for her to lay on your feet, snuffle your hand, or sit down against your legs. Mabel loves cuddles! - She does not get along with other dogs and has severe leash reactivity - She dreams big, so be prepared for noises, twitching, and slight snoring when she sleeps. - She is a big foodie and her favorite foods are peanut butter and bacon. - She loves to play ball, 'find it', and hide and seek. - She knows many tricks although her favorite one is 'bang' or 'play dead.' - She loves the beach but she's only been once. - Her favorite place to hang out is in the kitchen when you're cooking. - She is well trained but rusty on some commands and needs continued training. - She finds the park stressful unless there are no dogs and the sprinklers are on. - Being an ACD, Mabel is very high energy and needs to be kept active. - She's a quick learner and can learn a new trick in 30 minutes. - Mabel has never bit anyone although she has nipped our other dog before and nipped when playing. Please reach out if you think Mabel would thrive in your home! A 1-2 week trial- run is mandatory to make sure Mabel is the right fit for you. We look forward to talking to you.
