About ARLO

I won't be pulling any punches when I tell you how special this 2-year-old brindle Boxer is. ARLO (#A2221367) entered the East Valley Animal Shelter, Van Nuys, CA, as a 'stray' with a microchip. No 'family' came forward to claim him. I've taken a ringside position since ARLO became available for adoption, and he has the qualities to be a contender to a family looking for an affectionate, gentle, extremely handsome companion. ARLO has participated in shelter playgroups, and the feedback indicates that he 'mingled,' was 'tolerant,' but could be 'selective,' depending on the dogs in the yard. ARLO seems to thrive on human interaction; he loves to hug everyone he meets, is motivated by treats, and accepts them gently. He even allows me to wipe away his drool. There are a couple of 'bad behavior' notes regarding ARLO's time in the kennel, such as 'standing with a stiff body posture and being slow to approach,' as reported by supervisors (though this hasn't been noted by others who interact with him). This may categorize him as an 'underdog.' Please, don't throw in the towel until ARLO is safely out of the shelter.
